When I try to log-on I get a little box that shows my name and password. It keeps showing up. Why?

If you may have a password problem. Check is too see if you have your "Caps Lock" key on. The passwords and usernames are case sensitive and this is the problem the majority of the time. Another solution is that you may be using the wrong password or the wrong username. If you are unsure of your username/password, give us a call.

How come I seem to get disconnected at random times whenever I am online?

There are 3 major reasons why your getting disconnected.
1. Call waiting will immediately cancel the connection upon an incoming call. To disable call waiting, insert a "*70,," immediately before the phone number in dial-up networking.

2. Line noise - line noise will cause a modem to disconnect. Line noise varies depending on the quality of your phone line, but that is not the only factor. It can also be caused by call waiting, thunder, static, and cross-talk. If you feel this may be a problem, you should contact your local phone company to schedule line tests.

3. If you have been inactive for more than 20 minutes, our system will disconnect you. This is a safty catch. If you are called away from your computer a forget to log-off, your connection will terminate freeing your phone line. If you are doing an activity that does not transfer data (such as reading or writing e-mail), your connection will be disconnected. You will NOT be disconnected if any data transfer activity, browsing, file transfers etc, is taking place.

I'm getting an error that says something about "cannot establish a dial-up networking connection ......"

The problem is likely in the configuration of the Dial-Up networking module. Check the following:

1) Double click on the My Computer Icon, then double click on the Dial-Up Networking folder.

2) RIGHT click on the Kmoraine connection icon. Go to Properties.

3) Click on the button/tab for "Server Types".

4) Make sure that ONLY "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP" are the only items checked.

4) Then, click on TCP/IP Settings.

5) Under the TCP/IP Settings, check to see if Specify name server addresses is checked. Replace the Primary and Secondary DNS, with 209.83.81.6 and 66.84.146.25 respectively. Your IP address is AUTOMATICALLY assigned by the server.

7) Click ok, and click ok again. Your settings are stored for your Internet connection.

8) Double click on the My Computer Icon, then double click on the Control Panels folder, then double click on the Network Control Panel.

9) Click on TCP/IP or TCP/IP>Dial-Up Adapter, then click on properties.

10) Click on the DNS Configuration Tab, then check DISABLE DNS.

11) Click OK, Close out of everything then restart the computer. Try dialing in using the new profile.

Why is my mail getting stuck on one message?

That message probably has a large file attachment. Email is not meant for transferring very large files, such as large pictures or executable programs. If you plan on transferring things like this on a regular basis, you may want to use an FTP utility.

Why do I get a message saying "page cannot be found"?

This error means that the page you're trying to view isn't available. You may want to check that you've entered the correct URL. If that is correct, then that site may be down for an upgrade / changes, or it means that the site no longer exists.

The other explanation could be that you aren't connected to the internet. You must be connected to view websites and to download new mail.

Why does it seem to take forever to log in?

The problem is likely in the configuration of the Dial-Up networking. Check the following:

1) Double click on the My Computer Icon, then double click on the Dial-Up Networking folder.

2) RIGHT click on the Kmoraine connection icon. Go to Properties.

3) Click on the button/tab for "Server Types".

4) Make sure that "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP" are the ONLY items checked. More than that checked will "confuse" and delay the connection.
